We link volunteers with organic farmers across South Africa. Volunteers help in exchange for food, acccommodation and learning opportunities in organic agriculture.
"WWOOFers" give help that is wide and variable, but includes sowing seed, making compost, gardening, planting, cutting wood, weeding, making mudbricks, harvesting, fencing, building, packaging, milking and feeding farm animals.
WWOOF hosts are mainly pursuing a simple, sustainable lifestyle. Some farms are commercial producers, others practise farming as a hobby. Some farms are large properties inherited or bought. Others are smaller and have been conquered through hard work and sweat.
“ WWOOFing has given me the chance to see many beautiful parts of the world that I would not have visited had it not been for a host's generous hospitality. I have been able to share in a life totally different from that of my own upbringing and meet people that have chosen different kinds of lifestyles. ”
WWOOF South Africa is a Non Profit Organisation founded in November 2012 which supports the WWOOF principles and aims nationally for South Africa. We facilitate volunteers from all around the world wishing to visit South Africa, and work on an organic farm.
